Program Offerings

Beginnings

A 10-week look at what sexual addiction is. Through an hour and half teaching modality on topics such as disclosure, boundaries, the cycle of addiction, family of origin issues and other subjects we hope to lessen the stigma and fear that this disease has created. The next hour is a sharing group with a counselor. The addict remains with one counselor while the partner/spouse shares in another group.

Basics

After completion of the 10-week group the addict moves into a task centered group for approximately a year. Using the task-centered approach developed by Patrick Carnes, PhD. Clients may gain the tools to stop their self-defeating behaviors.

Partners may enter a separate group because they have often been deeply affected by this disease. The focus of this group is the feelings of betrayal, loss and anger associated with being the partner of the addict. We hope to draw attention off the addict and onto healing of ourselves by receiving support from others.

Advanced Group

This ongoing group is for clients who have maintained a level of sobriety and have integrated the 12 steps into their lives. The focus of this group is the deepening of relationships with others in the group using Patrick Carnes, PhD’s book “Facing the Shadow”

Offenders

This is a special group for clients who have crossed over from sexual addiction to some type of offender behavior, focusing on assisting the client to understand issues of offending, power and most importantly empathy.
